The Latvian American Eye Center (The Center) was the first and still is a unique model of a private eye clinic in the Baltic States based on principles of patient care and state-of-the-art technology famous in the USA to provide specialist eye treatment for adults and children.

The Center was founded by the American Professor John Joseph McDermott in 1993 and since then it has devel-oped into a well-equipped and established world-class clinic.

The Moto of the Center is “Excellence in Medical Care and Education” and professionalism, technologies and trust between doctors and patients are the main keystones.

Specialist eye treatment consists of and includes:

• complete eye and vision examination, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases;

• cataract operations, including the implantation of refractive intraocular lenses of various kinds – monofocal and multifocal;

• detached retina operations;

• refractive operations – Hi-Definition Vision correction with intraocular collamer lens

implantation (ICL and TICL);

• corneal transplantations with Descemet’s Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty – DMEK technology;

• intravitreal injections of medications to treat macular and retinal pathologies;

• laser treatment of glaucoma, retina pathologies and diabetic retinopathy;

• vision-testing for eye glasses and contact lenses;

• eye glass and contact lens fitting to meet all individual needs;

• sales of ophthalmological goods and equipment.

In the diagnostic and treatment process Hi-Tech, advanced, tested and certified equipment
